Pear cut diamond and tapered baguette platinum ring

This ring was carved in wax. Usually a wax is carved then cast in silver, and a mould is made from a refined silver master pattern. This way the deliberately heavy model silver model compensates for shrinking and produces a ring that can be filed and cleaned to reach the desired dimensions.
