Quotes and consultations
We get the details of the commission and discuss the design when you come in. We work with ideas on paper, drawings, photos and existing examples.
The quote will include details from the job sheet which you are encouraged to check over
Each setting is hand made. Gems are hand set. Settings are engraved and polished by hand.
Detailed and intricate settings can be uniquely designed for the stone.
Dense and inert, platinum has long lasting qualities which can be utalised in the design so that it will not age fast. Platinum is a rare element and will wear slowly and continue to be valued as a 'precious metal'.
Labour is worked out on an hourly basis based on the average time for similar commissions.
Precious metal, diamonds and gems are purchased from reputable dealers. Prices vary and we always look for good quality. Costs reflect the material cost, especially large diamonds that cost three times the cost ring so your budget should be portioned with a mind to constraints especially overall gem size(s) and size of ring, plus, the rings 'style' is also reflected in the price.
Alloys - markings
Platinum is marked 950. Palladium is marked 900. Gold 750, Silver 999 or 925
PLAT and Pd and other alloy purity marks are used to indicate alloy fineness.
Makers Mark stamp (usually PS) marks are used on original creations and stamped with the GSGA Guild mark for provenance.
